Ich Traumte dass ich eine Spinnerei war 2015

A short synopsis
During her residency at the Leipzig International Art Program (LIA) in Germany (2015/16), located inside a former 19th century cotton mill, Catalina Bauer produced a series of four video-performance that referred to the building, it’s architecture and history both past and present. Near the end of her six months at LIA she created an animation inspired by a dream I had long ago that I realised had a new relevance and meaning in the context of the residency.
“I dreamed I was a spinning mill” was exhibited at “Paradigm, Blickwechsel” Tapetenwerk Gallery. Leipzig, Germany and the Göethe Institute in Santiago, Chile.

In this work three fundamental interests of the entire Project converged; the body in movement, drawing and weaving.
Several works of this project have been exhibited in LIA during open studio events as well as the trianual Spinnerei Rundgang and also external exhibitions organized by Anna Louise Rolland, curator and director of LIA.
